No two successful warehousing infrastructures, however, are designed the same. Some OEMs may require warehousing sufficient to fulfill inventory to EMS providers for 10 years or more, while others may require investments in specialized equipment, experienced personnel, and detailed procedures to securely store sensitive electronic components such as ASICs.
Should an OEM fail to identify these specific needs and address them accordingly, the consequences could be significant. Custom Vault Storage
Our self-sustained Vault is the new and innovative way to guarantee business continuity throughout your product’s life cycle. As the first and only one of its kind in the world, this structure is rated “Best in Class” for component and raw material storage – and it happens to be located right here in the USA.
Modular Construction – Built from panels that are 24 inches wide and can vary in height from 8 to 16 feet, our Vault can be customized to meet your current needs, and even expand as your needs change. Fire Rated Class 350 Certification – Insulated with spun ceramic material, our Vault has been tested to withstand temperatures well above 2,000°F for over five hours. Zone IV Seismic Rated – With a unique structural steel design, our Vault has been tested to have a strength three times that of a normal building, rendering it safe from all natural disasters. Magnetic Shielding – The Vault walls and ceiling are enhanced with magnetic shielding to protect against magnetic interference and electrostatic discharge (ESD), which can include anything from a common power surge to a lightning strike. Clean Agent Fire Suppression System – In the remote case of a fire, our Vault will automatically trigger a chemical suppression system created specifically to protect electronic components. 1,100 lb. Die and Wafer Banking
In their efforts to combat obsolescence, many manufacturers are increasingly turning to the use of ASICs in their designs, which can be banked in raw die and wafer form. The the metal composition of raw die, however, is incredibly sensitive to oxidation. To function properly at the time of assembly, it must be stored with the proper equipment in accordance with strict, highly regulated humidity specifications.
ECD Dry Cabinets with SmartDry™ Technology
Instead of offering standard options for storing moisture-sensitive critical components, we wanted to offer customers implementing ASICs into their designs something more. This is why we introduced EDX’s industry-leading desiccant ECD dry cabinets, which are capable of maintaining a relative humidity of 0.5 percent – far below the IPC standard and more than sufficient for long-term die and wafer banking.
Self-Regulated Drying Technology – This allows for a market-leading recovery time of less than three minutes, which allows EDX assembly specialists to retrieve critical moisture-sensitive components as often as 10-12 times per hour.
Zeolite MSL Regulation – Zeolite is a naturally occurring clay-like compound that comes from volcanic earth deposits and exhibits humidity control qualities far superior to nitrogen. Nitrogen-infused ECD dry cabinets can only achieve 6-10 percent relative humidity, while Zeolite is capable of maintaining 0.5 percent relative humidity.
Intelligent Light Status – This innovative feature provides instant visual confirmation of dry storage status, informing the EDX staff if the unit is safe to access without compromising critical inventory.
ESD Protection – All of our desiccant dry cabinets are built using innovative conductive powder paint surface over steel construction, which is designed to eliminate the risks associated with electrostatic discharge.
