"Why would any CEM need to add yet another supplier, let alone an independent distributor?" Of course, we hear that question many times when we call a new company to introduce ourselves. The heart of this question is a basic consideration, "What makes EDX different from anyone else that calls." A Little History EDX was once an authorized distributor for lines like Rohm, Samsung, General Semiconductor, Lumex, Zetex and over 50 others. For example, we were General Semi’s 5th largest distributor in North America. In fact, we still have direct access to 59 manufacturers and we can frequently beat the prices of the "Big 3." A few years ago, as we watched similar distributors get gobbled up or vanish, we decided to change directions. We became one of the nation’s primary handlers of excess materials . We currently have over 80 million components on our shelves ready for immediate delivery. In fact, now most of our sales come from our own inventory. That’s great, but not unique. What is unique is the way we do business. How We Operate EDX still operates just like a franchised distributor. We offer terms, including extended payments and quick pay discounts. We schedule even obsolete components for just-in-time-delivery. We are ISO Certified and have one of the most stringent and comprehensive quality control programs in the industry. Our warehouse is ESD compliant. Our highly experienced staff can often cross-reference a solution to an availability issue. As mentioned before, we are still authorized for direct purchase of 59 lines of components. For many of our parts, you can even buy online. In essence EDX provides the security and reliability you receive from a franchised distributor while offering you all the services a traditional franchise is unwilling or unable to provide. What We Can Do For You These extra services will help you cope with obsolescence and lead time problems. Surplus production materials (not just components) are no problem with EDX’s excess materials handling programs. If you feel like you are paying too much for a component, run that price by EDX and maybe we have a better line of supply. Others tell you a part is not available? EDX has spent over a quarter of a million dollars to have written the most sophisticated sourcing software in the component distribution arena. We are the only independent distributor on numerous AVL’s and you may find that by adding EDX, you may actually eventually reduce the number of distributors on your AVL.
